Welcome to 6th Grade. This is the first year of Junior High in our school and is full of interesting changes. Students move out of a self-contained classroom to a series of classrooms. They have four teachers instead of one. The classes follow a block schedule with major subjects alternating every other day. Classes are 90 minutes long and time is set aside for study halls. Students are challenged with learning organizational skills including managing a student planner. They follow a varied schedule of classes. They learn to balance their time and workload to allow for extracurricular activities which may include sports, music (band and choir), regular service projects, Geography Bee, math competitions, and Trivia Bowl.

My name is Don Phipps. I accepted Jesus as my Savior at the age of 12 while attending church camp in Atkinson, Nebraska. I am married with 4 adult children and 9 grandchildren. I am a graduate of Chadron State College. I retired from the military with 27 years of service in the Army and National Guard. During my 15 years of teaching I taught at 2 Christian schools and 3 public ones. My teaching experience has all been with students in grades 5 through 8. I have taught primarily math and history during the last 9 years. I enjoy working with students as they face a challenging math and history curriculum. I am available before and after school for students who need special help especially in math.
